The Culinary union’s new 98,900-square-foot health clinic opens June 7 near Tropicana and Cameron, offering no-cost medical services to thousands of union members and their families in the Las Vegas Valley.

The Culinary union has opened its newest and final health center in the Las Vegas Valley, expanding access to no-cost medical care for thousands of hospitality workers and their families. The Culinary Health Center, located at the southwest corner of Tropicana Avenue and Cameron Street, began seeing patients on Friday, June 7, following a ribbon-cutting ceremony attended by union leaders and local officials.

The two-story, 98,900-square-foot facility is the fourth and last in a network of clinics operated by the Culinary Health Fund. It offers a range of services including primary care, mental health counseling, dental care, radiology, physical therapy, and an on-site pharmacy. The center is not open to the general public, but serves members of Culinary Local 226, Bartenders Local 165, IATSE Local 720, American Federation of Musicians Local 369, and their dependents.

Clinic Designed for Member Convenience

The new health center sits on nearly 10 acres about two miles west of the Las Vegas Strip, close to The Orleans. According to the union, nearly 32,000 Culinary members live near the new location, making it more convenient for workers who live and work in the area. The facility is expected to handle approximately 100,000 patient visits annually.

Jesus Vidueira, president of the Culinary Health Fund, said the clinics were strategically placed in neighborhoods where most union members reside. All care at the center is provided with no out-of-pocket costs, as services are covered by employer-funded insurance negotiated through collective bargaining agreements.

Union Investment and Site History

The Culinary union’s pension fund, known as the Western Unite Here and Employers Pension Fund, owns the property, while the Culinary Health Fund operates the clinic. The land was acquired in 2018 for $11.5 million, after previous plans for a hotel-condo complex on the site failed to materialize during the mid-2000s real estate boom. Clark County commissioners approved the medical complex in early 2024, clearing the way for construction and opening.

Ted Pappageorge, secretary-treasurer of Culinary Local 226, previously stated that the health fund pays about $750 million in claims each year, underscoring the scale of the union’s healthcare commitment to its members.

Who Can Access the New Center

The Culinary Health Center is available exclusively to members of Culinary Local 226, Bartenders Local 165, IATSE Local 720, American Federation of Musicians Local 369, and their families. The center is not open to the general public. Services include primary and specialty care, dental, mental health, radiology, physical therapy, and pharmacy support, all provided at no cost to eligible members and dependents.

The opening of the new facility marks the completion of the Culinary Health Fund’s clinic network in the Las Vegas Valley, further supporting the region’s hospitality workforce with expanded healthcare access.
