Osmond joined Donnie Wahlberg onstage during New Kids on the Block’s Oct. 10 residency show to sing “I Need You.” The band ended the moment with a group hug.

On Saturday, Oct. 10, Donny Osmond walked onstage at Dolby Live at Park MGM while New Kids on the Block were performing their Las Vegas residency. He joined Donnie Wahlberg for “I Need You.” Osmond was 68 and Wahlberg was 57 at the time.

The performance ended with the rest of the group joining the singers in a spinning hug. The October 2026 run at Dolby Live had been set in advance, according to the residency schedule. Other October dates included Oct. 14 and Oct. 16. The final show was set for Oct. 17, with doors listed for 7 p.m. and the performance scheduled to begin at 8 p.m.

Wahlberg was already singing when Osmond walked over and put an arm around him. He leaned his head against Osmond’s shoulder as the pair smiled at the cheering audience. Osmond joked, “Two Donnies for the price of one.” The shared first name gave the surprise its “Double Donny” nickname.

They exchanged “I love you man” before singing the 1988 New Kids on the Block ballad from the group’s Hangin’ Tough album. Osmond joined Wahlberg mid-song. After the show, the band called his appearance a Las Vegas-style surprise in a post. NBC’s TODAY also covered the duet.

Joey McIntyre said in the comments that he had attended Osmond’s Las Vegas show the previous Tuesday. The two met backstage afterward and decided Osmond should surprise the audience. McIntyre worried Osmond might not make it in time: Osmond had just finished his own show and ran over to the NKOTB performance.

McIntyre praised the performance, calling Osmond “the most grounded legend we could ever hope for.” Wahlberg also played on their shared first name, writing, “Before there was Donnie, there was Donny!”

Osmond previously headlined a Las Vegas residency with his sister Marie from 2008 to 2019, an 11-year run. He has also headlined his own residency at Harrah’s Showroom for five years. That show was extended for another two years, with dates scheduled through June 2027.

New Kids on the Block’s yearlong New Kids on the Block: The Right Stuff residency at Dolby Live is scheduled to end Saturday, Oct. 17. The date is listed as the final show of the October run.
