Golden Nugget Las Vegas is celebrating its 80th anniversary in 2026, marking eight decades as a cornerstone of Downtown Las Vegas hospitality. Opened on August 30, 1946, the resort remains a major presence on the Fremont Street Experience, offering a blend of classic Las Vegas history and modern amenities.
Located at 129 E Fremont Street, Golden Nugget has evolved over the years with multiple expansions and renovations, now featuring 2,419 rooms and suites across four distinct hotel towers.
Hotel Towers and Amenities
The property’s four towers each offer a different guest experience. The Gold Tower, opened in 1977, sits directly above the casino floor. The Spa Tower, added in 1984, is an all-suites building with two-story layouts and spacious living areas. Also opened in 1984, the Carson Tower provides more affordable accommodations and is located furthest from the casino. The Rush Tower, introduced in 2009, offers a quieter, upscale atmosphere.
Among the resort’s signature features is The Tank Pool complex, which includes a 200,000-gallon shark tank aquarium and 17 private cabanas spread over three levels. Guests can ride a water slide through the shark tank or play at one of five poolside gaming tables. The heated pool operates year-round. Rush Lounge offers live entertainment Thursday through Saturday in an intimate setting, while Troy Liquor Bar operates as a nightclub with a balcony overlooking Fremont Street. The Showroom, seating 600, hosts headliners including Gordie Brown, who maintains a residency with twice-weekly performances.

Visitors can view the “Hand of Faith,” billed as the world’s largest gold nugget, on display near the hotel lobby. The property’s history includes Steve Wynn becoming majority shareholder in 1973, making him the youngest casino owner in Las Vegas at the time. In 2005, Landry’s Inc. acquired the Golden Nugget, bringing several Landry’s-branded restaurants to the property. The resort was also featured in the 2004 Fox TV reality show The Casino, which followed two dot-com entrepreneurs managing the hotel and casino.
