The Raiders have unveiled plans for a $158 million north plaza podium at Allegiant Stadium, aiming to enhance fan access and event space. Nearly half the funding could come from public surplus room tax revenue if approved later this year.

The Las Vegas Raiders have announced plans for a major new addition to Allegiant Stadium: a $158 million north plaza podium designed to improve the fan experience and streamline access to the venue. The project, which would serve as a new "front door" for the 65,000-seat stadium, is expected to be funded with a mix of private and public money, with the team seeking $75 million from the Las Vegas Stadium Authority.

The Raiders will formally request the public funding at the Stadium Authority's meeting this Thursday. The proposed contribution would come from surplus room tax revenue, collected specifically to support stadium operations and capital improvements. According to meeting documents, the surplus account is projected to reach $75 million by June 30, 2027, after accounting for other approved infrastructure projects in Clark County.

What the North Plaza Podium Will Add

The planned podium will stretch between Dean Martin Drive and Polaris Avenue, creating a large public plaza and event space. It will also relocate the stadium’s ride-hailing operations from a privately owned lot north of Hacienda Avenue, and is set to become the future site of a Boring Co. Vegas Loop station. The design includes a platform that connects directly from Hacienda Avenue to the stadium’s main north entrance, making it easier for fans to enter without walking the full length of Allegiant Stadium Way.

Las Vegas Stadium Authority chairman Steve Hill described the project as a significant improvement for pedestrian flow, noting that more than 20,000 fans regularly cross the Hacienda bridge to reach the stadium from the Strip for Raiders games and major events.

How the Funding Would Work

The Raiders are seeking up to $75 million from the authority’s waterfall residual account, which accumulates excess revenue from the 0.88 percent room tax that helped fund the public’s $750 million share of the stadium’s original construction. This account receives funds after bond payments, operating expenses, and other obligations—such as UNLV football’s annual payment for missed revenue projections—are met. The waterfall fund can be used for capital improvements or to pay down debt ahead of schedule.

The Stadium Authority will not vote on the funding request at Thursday’s meeting. Instead, a special meeting is tentatively planned for September 2 to consider approval. If approved, the project would mark the most significant upgrade to Allegiant Stadium since its opening in 2020.

What Happens Next

This proposal is still in the approval phase. If the Stadium Authority grants the funding later this year, construction on the north plaza podium could begin soon after, with the goal of easing access for fans and supporting future transportation connections. The addition is expected to further integrate Allegiant Stadium into the surrounding area and accommodate growing event demand.
