Kevin Adams, Blue Heron's new CEO, plans to grow the Las Vegas luxury homebuilder into new markets while keeping its focus on highly customized homes. Expansion into Utah is already underway, with other Western states on the radar.
Blue Heron, the Las Vegas-based luxury homebuilder known for its highly customized residences, has named Kevin Adams as its new CEO. Adams, who officially took over in June, is leading the company’s efforts to expand beyond Southern Nevada while maintaining its reputation for personalized design and innovation.
Adams succeeds founder Tyler Jones, who remains with Blue Heron as founder. After advising the company for three years from Phoenix, Adams has relocated to Las Vegas to oversee day-to-day operations and drive the next phase of growth.
Expansion Plans Beyond Nevada
Under Adams’ leadership, Blue Heron is moving forward with plans to enter new markets outside Nevada. The company is currently building in St. George, Utah, and has identified northern Utah, Idaho, Colorado, and Phoenix as potential areas for future development. Adams says Las Vegas will remain the company’s core market, but the long-term vision is to establish Blue Heron as a national brand offering its signature approach to luxury homebuilding in multiple regions.
“We want people to access this kind of product in any market,” Adams said, emphasizing the goal of bringing Blue Heron’s design process and customer experience to a wider audience. The company is adapting its architectural styles to fit different environments, such as mountain modern homes for Colorado and desert modern for other Western states.
Focus on Customization and Wellness
Blue Heron’s approach centers on creating homes tailored to how clients live, rather than offering standard options. The company is investing in technology, including a virtual reality room that allows clients to walk through their future homes before construction begins. Adams notes that Blue Heron can deliver highly personalized features for a range of budgets, from $2 million to $20 million.
Current trends in luxury housing, according to Adams, include a focus on longevity, wellness, and indoor-outdoor living. Many clients are seeking open concepts with defined spaces, entertainment areas, and features that support a healthful lifestyle. Blue Heron is integrating these elements into its designs, reflecting broader shifts in how luxury buyers want to experience their homes.
Las Vegas Remains a Key Market
Adams sees Las Vegas as one of the strongest luxury housing markets in the country, driven by migration from colder and higher-tax states, as well as the city’s growing entertainment and sports offerings. He points to the arrival of professional sports, major events like Formula 1, and the city’s dining and entertainment scene as factors that continue to attract high-end buyers.
“Luxury buyers today are looking for experiences as much as square footage,” Adams said. He believes Las Vegas offers a unique combination of amenities and lifestyle that is difficult to replicate elsewhere, and expects demand for luxury homes in the region to remain strong.
Operational Challenges and Priorities
Adams acknowledges that delivering highly customized homes at scale presents operational challenges. His priorities as CEO include improving clarity around company goals, fostering collaboration across departments, ensuring consistency in execution, and enhancing communication. Blue Heron is leveraging technology and artificial intelligence to streamline processes and connect teams, aiming to deliver seamless experiences for clients as the company grows.
Adams brings a background in executive leadership and finance, having previously served as CEO of Isagenix, where he oversaw significant revenue growth. He holds a degree from the University of Wisconsin–Milwaukee and is now based in Las Vegas.
Looking Ahead
While Blue Heron’s expansion is still in its early stages, Adams envisions the company becoming a regional and eventually national presence in luxury homebuilding. The company’s commitment to customization, wellness, and innovative design remains central as it enters new markets. For now, Las Vegas continues to serve as both the company’s headquarters and its primary showcase for what Blue Heron aims to deliver nationwide.
