Jeyna Ponce, a Las Vegas-based breakdancer and multi-time cypher champion at Red Bull BC One, is among the new generation of performers who have benefited from the city’s supportive scene. Ponce credits the tight-knit community and advanced level of local competition for her growth, noting that Las Vegas b-girls regularly reach the finals at major competitions across the country. “The scene is very advanced here. Everybody is a tight-knit community. The level is getting higher,” she said.

Las Vegas’ breakdancing roots run deep, with legendary crews like Battle Born, Full Force, and Knucklehead Zoo building the city’s identity over the past three decades. These groups have not only competed at the highest levels but have also established studios and academies that train the next generation. Ronnie Abaldonado, co-founder of Full Force and a world-renowned breakdancer, has seen the city’s reputation grow as dancers from Las Vegas succeed on international stages and in Strip productions.
Despite larger markets in Los Angeles and New York, Las Vegas remains a proving ground for dancers seeking opportunities in touring, battling, and residency shows such as Cirque du Soleil and Jabbawockeez.
