Drivers in Las Vegas can clear select parking tickets with new toys instead of cash from October 1 to November 13, 2026. All donations go to homeless families through Chicanos Por La Causa.

Parking tickets in Las Vegas will take on a different meaning this fall. The city is letting drivers pay off certain fines by dropping off new, unwrapped toys that match or exceed the ticket’s value.

City officials rolled out the program for tickets issued between October 1 and November 13, 2026. Every toy heads straight to Chicanos Por La Causa, a nonprofit that helps homeless families move into permanent housing. The city’s move turns a routine penalty into a direct boost for families facing tough times as the holidays approach.

Donations are accepted at the Parking Services Office located at 350 S. City Parkway, Las Vegas, which operates Monday through Friday from 7:30 a.m. to 5:15 p.m.

How the Toy-for-Ticket Program Works

To take part, drivers must bring their toy and a purchase receipt to the City of Las Vegas Parking Services Office by December 14. The office runs weekdays from 7:30 a.m. to 5:15 p.m. The toy must be new, unwrapped, and at least equal in value to the fine. The city requires donations within 30 days of the citation date, as confirmed by FOX5 Las Vegas and News 3 Las Vegas.

Drivers who shop online can ship toys directly to the Parking Services Office. The citation number must appear in the delivery notes for proper credit. The city accepts family games like Candyland and Monopoly, gift cards, toys for children from 6 months to 18 years old, and stocking stuffers. News 3 Las Vegas reports only new, unopened toys or gift cards at or above the ticket amount will count.

Which Tickets Qualify and What to Donate

Las Vegas lists overtime meter, restricted time zone, abandoned vehicle, commercial vehicle or tour bus only, bus or taxi zone, loading or unloading zone, registration not displayed, parked after park hours, taking two spaces, and vehicle parked more than 72 hours as eligible violations. The city says other citations may also qualify.

Chicanos Por La Causa will distribute all toys collected through the program. The group works year-round to support homeless families in Las Vegas. The city set the program’s schedule to get toys to children before the holidays.

According to FOX5 Las Vegas and 8 News Now, the program is only available for tickets issued between October 1 and November 13, 2026, and there are no official reports of an extension or final results as of now. The city requires that toys be donated within 30 days of the citation date, and the final deadline for all donations is December 14, 2026.

Las Vegas Community Initiatives and Broader Context

Las Vegas has tried other hands-on approaches to local problems. Earlier this year, the city hosted a 24-hour bench conversation event to address homelessness, as reported by Vegas Report, showing a pattern of direct community engagement.

Letting drivers pay tickets with toys shifts city policy into practical action. The program channels resources to families who need them, using a city transaction to deliver real help. The city has not announced any extension or final results for the initiative.
