Plant Bingo, a monthly Las Vegas event where winners take home houseplants, is moving to the Beverly Theater’s indoor event space on August 23 with 150 seats and expanded prizes
Las Vegas’ Plant Bingo, a monthly event where participants compete for houseplants instead of cash, is growing in both size and popularity. The event, which began a year ago with just 15 attendees at Spilled Milk, has quickly outgrown its original home and now regularly sells out larger venues across the city.
Organized by Kori Cortez of Spilled Milk and Christina Sforza of Urban Jungle, Plant Bingo has become a unique gathering for locals interested in plants, community, and a bit of friendly competition. The next edition, Plant Bingo: Overgrown, is scheduled for August 23 at the Beverly Theater’s indoor event space, offering 150 seats and 12 rounds of play.
How Plant Bingo Works
Unlike traditional bingo, Plant Bingo awards winners with a selection of houseplants, including rare and large specimens such as monstera deliciosa and green flame ferns. Each round gives players a chance to claim a new plant, while additional prizes include tickets to Play Playground at Luxor and gifts from local businesses like Akin Cooperative and Nikdreamer.
Even those who don’t win a main round leave with a four-inch consolation plant, ensuring no one goes home empty-handed. The event’s format encourages participation from a wide range of attendees, from solo players to groups of friends and families.
Building Community Through Plants
According to organizers, Plant Bingo was initially created to drive business to their small shops. However, it has evolved into a community-focused event that brings together plant enthusiasts and newcomers alike. The welcoming atmosphere has attracted a diverse crowd, including those attending alone, on dates, or with family members.
“It’s always been a big community over competition type of thing,” Sforza said. The event also features an educational segment, where Sforza shares quick tips on plant care, origins, and maintenance between rounds, helping participants learn how to care for their new plants.
What to Expect at the Next Event
Plant Bingo: Overgrown will take place on August 23 at 11:30 a.m. at the Beverly Theater. Tickets are priced at $45 and are available through spilledmilkstore.com/events. With expanded seating, more rounds, and a wider variety of plants and prizes, organizers expect another sold-out event.
The continued growth of Plant Bingo highlights the demand for interactive, community-driven experiences in Las Vegas beyond the traditional entertainment and nightlife offerings. For locals and visitors interested in plants, education, and social connection, Plant Bingo offers a fresh take on weekend activities in the city.
