After more than a decade at Golden Entertainment, Skylar Dice leaves The STRAT to take over as general manager at Boyd Gaming’s Aliante hotel-casino in North Las Vegas.

Skylar Dice is stepping away from The STRAT. He will now run Aliante hotel-casino in North Las Vegas as its new vice president and general manager. Dice had led The STRAT as senior vice president and general manager since October 2024. His move puts him under the Boyd Gaming banner.

This ends Dice’s 11-year run with Golden Entertainment, the company that owns The STRAT. In his public statement, Dice called his time there an “important chapter.” He said he was proud of what his team accomplished at the Strip property. Dice also wished The STRAT well as he leaves daily operations behind.

Boyd Gaming owns and operates 26 gaming properties across 11 states, in addition to managing a tribal casino in Northern California and developing its Boyd Interactive online division.

Aliante brings in a Strip veteran

Aliante hotel-casino, set in North Las Vegas, is getting a leader with deep roots in the city’s gaming scene. Dice’s new role as vice president and general manager follows years spent at one of the Strip’s most recognized casinos. Boyd Gaming has not shared details about his immediate plans for Aliante. Still, bringing in Dice shows the company wants proven local leadership at the top.

What’s next for The STRAT and Aliante?

The STRAT, famous for its tower and casino floor, faces a leadership gap as Dice departs. The property has seen several updates in recent years. Dice’s time as senior vice president and general manager was brief—he started in October 2024. Now, Golden Entertainment must find a new executive to steer the property. The Strip remains a tough market, with casinos fighting for both locals and tourists.

Aliante, meanwhile, gains a general manager with Strip experience. Boyd Gaming runs the property and could benefit from Dice’s operational background. No immediate changes have been announced. But moves like this often lead to new strategies or guest programs down the line. Change is coming. The question is when.

According to available public records, there are no confirmed details regarding Dice's official start date at Aliante, the identity of his successor at The STRAT, or any regulatory commentary from the Nevada Gaming Control Board on this transition.

Industry eyes on executive shifts

When top executives move between Las Vegas resorts, the industry pays attention. These changes can shape how properties operate and what guests experience. Dice’s jump from The STRAT to Aliante highlights the push among casino operators to hire leaders who know the city and its challenges. Dice spent more than a decade at Golden Entertainment and recently managed a high-profile Strip property. That experience could set the tone for Aliante’s next chapter.

Leadership changes like this are rarely just about a new name on the door. They often mean a shift in priorities and how things get done. The STRAT now looks for new leadership. Aliante welcomes Dice. Both casinos are set for fresh approaches. In Las Vegas, local know-how and the ability to adapt matter most. The real test comes next year, when guests and numbers show if these moves pay off.
