Spirit Halloween has launched a seasonal store at 8855 W. Charleston Blvd., temporarily filling the former Whole Foods Market space in the Crossroads Commons strip mall for the 2026 Halloween season
The former Whole Foods Market location at 8855 W. Charleston Blvd. near Summerlin has a new, if temporary, occupant: Spirit Halloween. The national retailer, known for transforming vacant retail spaces into seasonal costume shops, has opened its doors in the Crossroads Commons strip mall for the 2026 Halloween season.
Spirit Halloween’s arrival brings activity back to a space that had served as a grocery anchor for more than two decades. Whole Foods originally opened at the intersection of Charleston Boulevard and Fort Apache Road in 2003, drawing steady crowds from the surrounding neighborhoods. The store closed in spring 2025 after relocating to a new retail plaza three miles away at Sahara Avenue and Town Center Drive in the Summerlin community.
Seasonal Retail Returns to West Charleston
The Spirit Halloween store is now open and operating under a short-term lease, a business model the company has used for years to quickly activate empty storefronts across the country. According to Spirit Halloween, its stores typically operate from early September through early November, offering costumes, decorations, animatronics, and other Halloween merchandise before closing after the holiday.
The 39,000-square-foot former supermarket had remained vacant since Whole Foods’ departure, with no long-term tenant announced as of June 2026. City records do not indicate any permanent plans for the space, and the listing agent for the property declined to comment on future leasing activity.
Spirit Halloween’s Las Vegas Footprint
Spirit Halloween, based in New Jersey, operates more than 1,500 seasonal locations in shopping centers and malls throughout North America. The company’s website lists several outlets across the Las Vegas Valley each fall, with the former Whole Foods site among its latest additions for 2026.
The retailer’s pop-up approach has become a familiar sight in Las Vegas, especially as retail vacancies fluctuate. Spirit Halloween’s presence often signals the start of the Halloween season for local families and visitors, offering a wide range of costumes and themed décor in high-visibility locations.
What’s Next for the Former Whole Foods Space
For now, Spirit Halloween is expected to operate at 8855 W. Charleston Blvd. through early November. The future of the large retail space remains uncertain, with no confirmed plans for a permanent tenant. The site’s location near Summerlin and its history as a grocery anchor make it a notable property for potential redevelopment or new retail concepts in the coming years.
Residents and visitors looking for Halloween supplies can visit the Spirit Halloween store during its seasonal run, while the community awaits news on the long-term fate of the former Whole Foods Market location.
