Las Vegas-based YouTube creator Vegas Matt, known for his slot machine videos, was escorted out of The Venetian in late 2023 but remains active at other Strip and downtown casinos, with a fan event set for Fontainebleau in October.
Las Vegas content creator Matt Morrow, better known as Vegas Matt, says he was removed from The Venetian in November 2023, but continues to film and play at other major casinos on the Strip and downtown. Morrow, whose YouTube channel and social media accounts have amassed more than 5 million followers, is known for highlighting the entertainment side of Las Vegas slot play.
According to Morrow, he was escorted out of The Venetian by security staff last fall, though he says the property did not provide a reason for the action. The incident only became public this week after being posted by Vital Vegas on X, nearly 10 months after it occurred. The Venetian has not responded to requests for comment regarding the removal.
Ongoing Casino Appearances
Despite the ban from The Venetian, Morrow remains active at other Las Vegas properties. He regularly plays at El Cortez downtown and has scheduled a fan event at Fontainebleau Las Vegas for October 9–10, according to his website. Morrow stated that he prefers to maintain positive relationships with casinos and did not initially publicize the incident to avoid controversy.
On social media, Morrow addressed speculation that his removal was related to 'advantage play,' a term for using game characteristics to improve odds. He denied engaging in such tactics, noting that he had just won $400,000 on a slot machine at The Venetian before being asked to leave. He added that he recently won $260,000 at Fontainebleau and continues to play there.
Las Vegas Casino Policies and Player Relations
While advantage play is not illegal, some casinos may restrict or ban players they believe are using strategies that give them an edge, even if those strategies are within the rules. Morrow emphasized that he sees himself as an ambassador for Las Vegas and prefers to focus on the positive aspects of casino entertainment. He described The Venetian's handling of the situation as unnecessarily harsh but acknowledged that casinos have the right to refuse service.
Morrow's channel features videos of him, his son E.J., and friends playing slot machines, sharing stories, and interacting with fans. He organizes meetups at casinos across the country and on cruise ships, and sells branded merchandise at event locations. The continued popularity of his events suggests that many Las Vegas properties value the exposure and visitor traffic generated by social media creators.
Downtown and High-Limit Slot Trends
The incident comes as downtown Las Vegas casinos continue to invest in attracting slot players. For example, the Plaza Hotel & Casino recently opened a high-limit slot room with concierge services and cashless gaming, aiming to appeal to privacy-seeking guests. More details on this trend can be found in this report on new high-limit slot offerings at the Plaza.
As Las Vegas casinos adapt to changing player behavior and the influence of social media, the relationship between content creators and gaming properties remains a dynamic part of the city's entertainment landscape.
