After that, chef David Chang will have just one restaurant left in Las Vegas: his flagship Momofuku, also at The Cosmopolitan. MGM Resorts announced the closure, which means Chang’s presence on the Strip will shrink to a single location. As reported by the Las Vegas Review-Journal, Bang Bar’s exit marks a notable change from the days when Chang operated four restaurants in Strip casinos.
Bang Bar opened in April 2021 inside Block 16 Urban Food Hall, offering a fast-casual menu inspired by Korean street food. The name comes from “bang (ppang),” the Korean word for bread. It quickly became a go-to spot for visitors looking for a quick meal between shows or casino stops. With this closure, only the main Momofuku restaurant will remain on the Strip, though Chang’s Fuku concessions continue to operate elsewhere in Las Vegas.
What’s Next for the Space
MGM Resorts says the space won’t stay empty for long. Momofuku and China Palace Group are planning a new restaurant, expected to open in 2027. Details haven’t been released yet, but the partnership points to another focus on creative dining inside The Cosmopolitan’s food hall. Hoodline reports that the resort continues to update its dining lineup as part of ongoing changes.
For now, the only David Chang restaurant left on the Strip is the original Momofuku, which still draws crowds for its menu and reputation. Bang Bar’s closure follows a trend seen elsewhere in Las Vegas, where well-known chefs and restaurants have adjusted their lineups as visitor habits and resort strategies shift. Other restaurants have also left major resorts in recent years.
