A new hotel-casino could soon rise several miles south of the Las Vegas Strip, as local developer Michael Ochoa has submitted plans for a project called Silverado. The proposed resort would be located at the northwest corner of Las Vegas Boulevard and Richmar Avenue, on a 13.5-acre site just north of Silverado Ranch Boulevard.
According to documents filed with Clark County, the first phase of Silverado would include a six-story hotel tower with 300 rooms, a 57,000-square-foot casino, multiple food and beverage outlets, entertainment venues, and conference space. A second phase is planned to add another 150 hotel rooms, bringing the total to 450 rooms across two six-story buildings. The project would also feature a five-level parking garage to accommodate guests and visitors.
Clark County Review Scheduled
Clark County commissioners are scheduled to consider the Silverado proposal on September 2. The project site, currently vacant, sits across from the former Paradise Spa condo complex, which was demolished after a series of fires and is now slated for new housing. If approved, Silverado would join a growing list of developments reshaping the southern end of Las Vegas Boulevard.
Developer and Investment Details
Michael Ochoa, head of Ochoa Development Corp., is leading the project. While Ochoa did not respond to requests for comment, land-use consultant Lucy Stewart, representing the developer, described Silverado as a “substantial long-term investment” in a letter to the county. Stewart emphasized that the resort would contribute to the ongoing revitalization of this stretch of Las Vegas Boulevard, which has seen increased interest from both residential and commercial developers.
What the Project Means for the Area
The Silverado site is about five miles south of the casino-heavy Strip, in an area that has historically seen less resort development but is now attracting new projects. The addition of a large-scale hotel-casino could bring more visitors and amenities to the neighborhood, potentially spurring further investment and activity.
